What is Yoga?
To me yoga is a practice of the union of the body, mind and spirit through the investigation of experience. A practice of compassion and opening of possibilities through purposeful being.
Types of Yoga I Teach
Vinyasa
This is a practice based off of the Sun Salutations and poses from Ashtanga. It involves linking movement to breath through dynamic shifting of poses. Finding meditation through this linkage and greater knowledge of the movement of the body and the space it inhabits.
Restorative
This practice involves holding supported poses for long periods of time with no effort. In order to increase our ability to shift into the parasympathetic nervous system, to promote a more relaxed life, more balanced reactions, better health, and reduced stress.
Foundations
Building the knowledge of yoga poses, body awareness, confidence of ability and how best to support yourself in a poses. So the boundary between a public class or non beginner class is diminished.
Yin
This practice involves holding poses at the point of sensation for long periods of time. To effect the soft tissue of the body, in order to regain our range of motion, strengthen the bones, tissue and cells, and for easier sliding and gliding of joints. As well as exploring your capacity to be and sit with your mind, body, and wellbeing.
